The Media Mogul Rupert Murdoch got engaged to his girlfriend Elena Zhukova at 92 this Thursday according to a spokesman that would mark his fifth walk down the aisle.

The wedding between Rupert Murdoch and Elena Zhukova is going to be held in California according to a spokesperson at Rupert Murdoch’s vineyard and estate. The impending wedding comes just months after Rupert stepped down as the chairman of Fox and News Corp which marked an ending to his seven-decade career at the helm of an amazing media empire.

The New York Times reported the news first according to Rupert’s girlfriend-turned-fiancee Elena Zhukova.

Who is Elena Zhukova?

Elena Zhukova is Rupert Murdoch’s 67-year-old fiancee from Moscow. She is retired from the post of a molecular biologist. The couple started dating in the summer after meeting Rupert’s third wife Wendi Deng according to a Daily Mail report.

About Rupert Murdoch’s Past Relationships

The most recent marriage of Rupert Murdoch was to the actress and model Jerry Hall which ended with a divorce in 2022 after six years of marriage. Jerry Hall was a longtime partner of Rolling Stones singer Mick Jagger previously.

Rupert Murdoch was briefly engaged last year to Ann Lesley Smith who was a former San Francisco police captain. The couple though called off the engagement weeks later which was reported by Vanity Fair citing a source who said the media mogul had grown uncomfortable with Ann Lesley’s outspoken evangelical views.

Moraga is the place where Rupert Murdoch is set to marry. It is the same place where he and Walt Disney’s Chief Executive Bob Iger discussed first Walt Disney’s acquisition of the 21st Century Fox in 2019 for $71 billion.

Rupert Murdoch’s life and career

The media mogul is the son of Sir Keith Murdoch who was a popular Australian who was a correspondent and publisher. He studied at Worcester College in Oxford and also worked briefly as an editor on Lord Beaverbrook’s London Daily Express gaining a practical experience in journalism which would be a major influence in his early career as a publisher. After the death of his father Rupert Murdoch returned to Australia in 1954 to take over the Sunday Mail as well as The News, both of Adelaide. Quickly converting The News into a paper dominated by sex and scandal news, he often wrote its banner headlines himself. The New’s papers circulation increased which led him to employ similar changes in papers which he bought in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

He first acquired his British newspaper in 1969 and quickly went on to become a media mogul by boosting circulation. This formula consisted of an emphasis on crime, sex, scandal, and human interest stories with a boldface headline along with sports reporting and conservative editorializing. This formula helped him in acquiring the News of the World as well as The Sun which was a London daily in the following year itself.
