There are no charges for the president of the United States of America Joe Biden over the classified documents but the reports question memory.
A special counsel report has claimed that the president of the United States of America Joe Biden had kept secret documents related to military policy in Afghanistan as well as foreign policies after serving as a vice president until the year 2017. The counsel report also said that it would be a difficult task to convict Joe Biden as he comes across as an elderly man with a poor memory.
This comment led the White House to comment back at that characterization. The lawyer for the White House Richard Sauber wrote “ We do not believe that the report’s treatment of President Biden’s memory is accurate or appropriate.”
He added that the report used highly prejudicial language to describe an occurrence that is commonplace among witnesses which is a lack of recall of years-old events.
The Special Counsel report from Robert Hur as appointed by the Department of Justice was released after an investigation was made that lasted for more than a year. This report and investigation were related to files found at the home of US President Joe Biden and his former private office from the session 2022-23. The reports revealed for the first time that the documents found were classified at the highest of levels- Top Secret and were related to Afghanistan.
What was in the files?
These files included notebooks as containing Joe Biden’s entries about national security and foreign policy matters which implicated sensitive intelligence sources and methods. This was revealed for the first time in this special report which criticised Joe Biden for sharing some of the material that was highly sensitive in nature in his notebooks with a ghostwriter for his memoir. But Mr Hur also said that they have concluded after the investigation that the evidence does not establish the US President Joe Biden’s height beyond a reasonable doubt. It was added that his prosecution is unwarranted as based on their consideration of the aggravating and mitigating factors.
What does the report say about Joe Biden’s Memory?
The report as published by the Special Counsel was 345 pages long and was released publicly on Thursday after the White House denied to request any redactions. Investigators held one hundred and seventy-three interviews with one hundred and forty-seven witnesses which included President Joe Biden himself. The freeport claimed that it would be difficult to convict Joe Biden for improper handling of files because at the trials the president of the United States of America is likely to present himself as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man who has a poor memory in front of the jury as he was seen to present himself as during their investigations. It is also added that Joe Biden’s memory seemed to have significant limitations during his interview where he missed his term as a vice president from 2009 to 2017 altogether.
