The Galaxy A series was intended to cater to the mid-range market. However, in 2019, Samsung expanded the series to encompass the budget market, resulting in smartphones such as the Galaxy A10 and A20. Samsung’s strategy has been streamlined, and the Galaxy A series now caters to affordable and mid-range consumers.

The Galaxy A70 was one of the best low-cost Android phones to come out of the Galaxy A range. It was the first Samsung phone to include 25W wired charging and solid features, including a Snapdragon 675 processor.

The Galaxy A71 improves on that formula with changes to the camera and chipset and a fresh new design featuring a smaller cutout.

Samsung hasn’t made many changes here, but the improvements make the Galaxy A71 a compelling mid-range option.

Samsung A71: Price in Tunisia

The Galaxy A71 is available in two versions: a 4G-only model and a 5G version. The 4G variant is powered by a Snapdragon 730 with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage and costs 1499 to 1599 DT In Tunisia.

Meanwhile, depending on where you buy the phone, the Snapdragon 765G or Exynos 980 powers the 5G model, which costs $560 in the United States for the one with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

Prism Crush Black, Prism Crush Blue, Prism Crush Silver, and Haze Crush Silver are available in 4G and 5G devices.

Samsung A71: Display and Design

In 2019 Samsung introduced colorful gradient designs across the Galaxy A series, and in 2020, it made a few changes to the design. There’s now a criss-cross pattern beneath the back that appears when light reflects off the phone’s surface, and it’s divided into four quadrants. The overall effect is quite dramatic, with each quadrant having a slightly different hue.

Of course, the phone’s back is still polycarbonate, but it’s not immediately apparent. The gradient design, paired with the glossy coating, gives the back the appearance and feel of glass, but it’s not too heavy because it’s made of plastic.

Despite having a 4500mAh battery and a 6.7-inch screen, the Galaxy A71 weighs only 179g. There’s also the fact that the phone’s back is made of polycarbonate, which makes it a little bit more sturdy.

The rectangular camera housing is another design update on the back. Samsung is sticking to a consistent design philosophy in this area, as is seen on the rest of the company’s portfolio — including the Galaxy A51 and Galaxy S10 Lite — employing the same camera housing as the Galaxy S20 series.

The Galaxy A71 includes a hole-punch cutout for the front camera, as well as ultra-thin bezels on the front. The notch is huge, but it isn’t too distracting, and you get an in-screen fingerprint scanner, just like other phones on the market today.

The analog port is still there in the Galaxy A71, despite Samsung’s abandonment of the 3.5mm jack on its flagships. The power and volume buttons are on the phone’s right side, and they’re not too far up the side, so they’re easy to reach. On the other side of the USB-C charging port, there’s a single speaker at the bottom.

When it comes to the design of the Galaxy A71, there’s a lot to admire. The polycarbonate doesn’t take away from the brilliant colors or fantastic in-hand feel, and the fit and finish are on pace with Samsung’s best.

A 6.7-inch FHD+ (2400 x 1080) Super AMOLED display dominates the Galaxy A71’s front. The panel itself is nearly identical to the A70, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. You enjoy a screen with rich colors, good sunlight visibility, and good viewing angles. Like the A70, the panel is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass 3.

The Galaxy A71’s flowing curves at the back, paired with the slim bezels, make it easy to handle – you don’t even realize you’re holding a phone with a 6.7-inch screen.

The Galaxy A71’s screen boasts fantastic colors right out of the box, and you can tweak the color balance in the phone’s settings by switching to Vivid mode. You get a lot of customizability around font and text scale, much like every other Samsung phone.

The Galaxy A71’s display, like the design style, holds up well – it’s one of the best screens in the mid-range category. Sure, it doesn’t have a fast refresh rate, but the panel’s quality compensates for that.

Samsung A71: Hardware and Battery

The Snapdragon 675 Chipset was one of the features that set the Galaxy A70 apart from the competition in 2019. The Snapdragon 730 powers the Galaxy A71’s internals, which has been updated.

The Snapdragon 730, released over two years ago, has two Cortex A76 cores clocked at 2.20GHz and six energy-efficient Cortex A55 cores clocked at 1.8GHz. It also features the Adreno 618 GPU, Hexagon 688 DSP, and an 8nm manufacturing process. The Galaxy A71’s node decrease to 8nm gives it better battery life and performance than its predecessor, especially when gaming.

The Galaxy A71 comes standard with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage, but there is also an 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model. A MicroSD card is included, which can hold up to 1TB of data, and the worldwide model consists of a separate dual SIM tray in addition to the MicroSD slot.

The Galaxy A71’s battery life is a remarkable feature. The phone’s 4500mAh battery easily provides more than a day’s worth of use.

When you need to charge the phone, it supports 25W fast charging and comes with a 25W charger. In just 30 minutes, you’ll be up to 50% charged, and a full charge will take a little over 80 minutes.

The Galaxy A71 lacks wireless charging and water resistance, but it’s an excellent day-to-day phone.

Samsung A71: Camera

A 64MP primary lens is complemented by a 12MP wide-angle lens, a 5MP macro lens, and a 5MP portrait lens on the Galaxy A71. The lens layout is identical to the Galaxy A51 except for the 64MP camera. By default, the 64MP camera uses pixel binning to produce 16MP images, and there’s a 32 MP front-facing camera for selfies.

Pictures shot in daylight provide a lot of detail and have a lot of dynamic range and color richness. There’s very little noise, highlights aren’t blown out, and auto HDR does an excellent job of bringing out detail in photos. The 12MP wide-angle camera also does a fantastic job, capturing images with good detail and, more importantly, accurate colors. In Live Focus mode, the A71 produces excellent portrait photos.

As you may expect, the Galaxy A71 performs poorly in low-light situations. The A71 produces decent images, but when you look at them on a monitor, you’ll notice a lot of noise.

Should You Buy It?

With the A71, Samsung didn’t make many modifications, but it didn’t need to. The Galaxy A70 is still a terrific phone, and Samsung offered enough differentiation to the Galaxy A71 in 2020 by improving the internal hardware and adding a 64MP camera.

Overall, the Galaxy A71 provides excellent value for the price you pay for it. The Snapdragon 730 is a powerful mid-range chipset that should provide lag-free performance for several years, and the design should do the same. You also get a lot of battery life with 25W fast charging, One UI 2.0 with Android 10, and three platform updates assured, and the 64MP camera isn’t terrible either.
