After the U.K. Government confirmed the loosening of the COVID-19 Autumn and Winter Plan B restrictions, the Premier League can now adjust the protocols of sporting events for the fans wanting to watch the matches.
The updated pandemic guidelines
Under the latest Government guidance, the passes for COVID are no longer required on the next Premier League matches as a provision of entry.
In return, the Premier League and all of the clubs involved will continue to encourage football fans to follow the minimum public health protocols in order to be safe while watching in the stadiums. This also included wearing face masks all the time when indoors and or in crowded spaces.
As the coronavirus cases slowly subsides and the pandemic protocols ease, it is important that supporters need to reduce the risk of transferring COVID-19 virus to others. There are a few easy ways to do so that fans can aid in reducing the risk of coronavirus infections.

- If available, make sure that you took a COVID-19 test on the day of the match to know if you have the risk of passing the virus to other people
- The most proper solution to protect yourself and other supporters from getting COVID-19 virus is to get vaccinated
Urging the public to continue to follow the safety protocols
According to the chief executive of the Premier League Richard Masters, he said “ So far, the supporters are showing their wonderful support for the protocols that we set and we are grateful to them for helping us to keep one another safe so that the football grounds will be open at full capacity.”
“Even though the U.K. Government coronavirus protocols are slowly starting to ease, everyone still has the responsibility in ensuring safety of all of our matches. The league and the clubs are joined hand-in-hand in encouraging the fans to continue to follow the minimum public health protocols to reduce the risk of people contracting teh coronavirus.”
The updated matchday guidelines for fans will take effect immediately, when the next l?ch thi ??u ngo?i h?ng Anh matches begin on February 5, featuring Burnley FC and Watford FC.
The league and the club will continue to collaborate with the government and the public health authorities to enforce the public safety protocols in accordance with the updated guidelines.
As a response, all of the Premier League clubs made a promise to keep the supporters updated for the new protocols if something came up.
Coronavirus outbreak in Tottenham
Ever since the previous incident last December involving the Tottenham Hotspur in which there was an outbreak of COVID-19 in the grounds of the club, the English league has adjusted its pandemic protocols to prevent the further spread of the virus.
Among the affected individuals are the staff and several players of Tottenham. As a result, the official fixtures of the matches involving the club were heavily affected. Among these matches are the postponed matches of French club Lille and Crystal Palace against Spurs.
After that, the restrictions were much more tightened and the protocols required fans to submit a COVID pass upon entering the stadium every matchday.
