The Solar Energy Corporation of India, also known as SECI, has made a commission for the largest solar battery project and energy storage system to be installed in Rajnandagaon, Chhattisgarh, India.
The Solar Energy Corporation of India commissioned project of BESS is the first of its kind and the largest solar battery energy storage system in India. It is all set to be installed in Rajnandgaon, in Chattisgarh, India.
Highlights of the project
- Capacity – 40 MW/ 120 MWh BESS
- Capacity of Solar PV Plant- 152.325 MW
- The capacity of the Dispatchable’s- 100 MW AC[ 155.02 MW peak DC]
- Beneficiary of the plant- Chhattisgarh state
Significance of the project
The project is very significant for the whole country, and here is why:
- It is the first of its kind, representing a pioneering leap in renewable energy’s generation and utilization in the country. It is going to be a large-scale integration of solar and battery storage.
- The project signifies a peak in the management of power by storing solar energy during the day and releasing the energy during the evening. It will address the increasing demand and ensure the stability of the grid as well as its reliability.
- It benefits the environment by utilizing a renewable energy source and adopting sustainable practices to contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions and promote environmental responsibility among all.
- The long-term purchase power agreement of the state electric distribution company maintains economic sustainability and also paves the way for other energy endeavors in the renewable energy sector.
Features of the project
- The project is ready to incorporate bifacial solar modules, which would generate more electricity than the current models in use
- The project is set to demonstrate responsible land utilization by repurposing unused land through a collaboration with the government . of the state.
- The project aims for seamless integration into the existing grid of power, which is going to be looked after through a dedicated 132 kV transmission line.
- This project is going to be a testament to successful collaboration, as it is receiving funds from the Clean Technology Fund, World Bank, and domestic lending agencies.
The impact of the project will hopefully be wide and positive in the face of the adoption of advanced renewable energy globally as well as in India. As the project inspires some responsible and sustainable practices in the future of energy project development, it will hopefully inspire more innovation in this sector.
The project of BESS is a light of hope shining on a sustainable future and is also a green step towards demonstrating the immense potential of renewable energy for meeting the growing energy demands. It is a step towards protecting the environment as well as relearning how to live in harmony with it and not try to overpower it as we do now.
