Along with IT development in Ukraine, there are other ongoing trends popping up. The most demanded is military technology development. Drones, electronic warfare systems, and analytics systems are among the biggest requests. Sergey Tokarev, the Founding Partner of the tech company Roosh, spoke about the engagement of the IT sector in military tech.
Considering Ukraine’s state of military alert, people are largely using new technologies to protect their rights and freedom. They even came to upgrade weapons made in USSR. Sergey Tokarev exemplifies the modernization of old drones capable of flying over 1,200 km without being noticed by Russian air defense systems. Another Ukrainian breakthrough is an advanced air defense system able to detect Russian Shahed drones at an early stage by sound.
The businessman believes drone development will be the fast-growing trend in military tech. It is a significant achievement to develop a UAV that does not bring a threat to people’s lives when hitting any object. Tokarev mentions the Ukrainian project Army of Drones when the state allocated 20 million hryvnias for buying professional unmanned drones made in Ukraine.
The launch of the military tech cluster represents another big achievement in developing military technologies in Ukraine. Such an event was announced by the Minister of Digital Transformation, Mykhailo Fedorov. Sergey Tokarev thinks the war can last a long time, and Ukrainians must always be ready for further actions to protect their country from the aggressor state. That is why they need to develop their own military technologies.
“We should realize that the war is for long, that the aggressive neighbor is not going to disappear. As I understand it, the worst thing will happen not today, but in the following 5-10 years. It is clear that now Russia will lose, the Russians will not accept this humiliation and will try to revenge. The question is what we will do to prevent it,” says Tokarev.
The Roosh founder is overwhelmed by the need to promote and develop military tech. He encourages the Ukrainian IT sector to join forces with the military community and bring up new products to defend the country and the nation. Some IT experts are already involved in developing unmanned drone control systems, electronic warfare systems, and analyzing satellite images.
According to Sergey Tokarev, his company Roosh is not involved in any military project, yet he in person is involved in related areas: from financial to organizational perspectives.
The businessman also emphasizes the essence of applying analytical tools for better security. “The future belongs to analytics,” believes Tokarev.
In addition to sought-after technologies, Sergey Tokarev highlights the development of remote-control technologies. It includes unmanned tanks and small jet UAVs. Such tanks are significantly more expensive, but they can save the lives of qualified specialists. One more high tech under development will allow one to hide a box with a “swarm” of drones on the battlefield under the ground. This technology aims to be opened under certain conditions and, if necessary, attack and destroy the enemy.
