PC: WHAT IS A PERSONAL COMPUTER?

PC, which stands for Personal Computer, is a general-purpose, affordable computer.  Ed Roberts invented the PC era when he introduced the MITS Altair 8800. It is alternatively referred to as a personal computer and a desktop computer designed for use by the end user. All computers are based on microprocessor technology, which allows computer manufacturers to place the entire CPU (central processing unit) on a single die.

Usually a computer has a keyboard, mouse, monitor and system unit. Most personal computers have  Internet or network connections, including ports for  devices such as external hard drives, scanners, printers, and digital cameras.

Although the term PC refers to any personal computer, including  Apple Macintosh computers, it is often used in the computer industry to describe  IBM or IBM-compatible computers. All computers are used to create presentations, write, play games, keep track of our finances, finance, run databases and many other tasks. You can also play computer games, multimedia entertainment, surf the Internet, etc. at home. If your computer is connected to the Internet, you can use it to communicate with friends via instant messaging, browse the web, check email, and download files or information. Personal computers often create connections by connecting several computers together, even if they are designed to be used as a single-user machine.

HISTORY

Early in computer history, experimental machines could be operated by a single person. For example, ENIAC, which started operating in 1946, could be managed by an educated person. This model predates the batch programming or time-sharing model, in which multiple users connect to host computers via terminals.

A computer designed for laboratory, measurement, or engineering purposes that can be operated interactively by a single person. Significant advances in semiconductor technology made the personal computer possible. In 1959, Robert Noyce of Fairchild Semiconductor invented the silicon integrated circuit (IC) wafer and Mohamed Atalla and Davin Card of Bell Laboratories. Dawon Kahng invented metal oxide semiconductor (MOS) transistors. The first microprocessor-based microcomputers were developed in the  1970s.

Beginning in the 1970s, mainstream commercial use of microprocessors made computers affordable enough for small businesses and individuals to own.

The first personal computers (often called microcomputers) were generally sold in kits and in limited numbers and were primarily for hobbyists and professionals.

At the very least, the job is done by entering commands from the switch, with the output coming from the dash light. Actual use requires the addition of peripheral devices such as keyboards, computer monitors, disk drives, and printers. The first commercial personal computer  was the Commodore PET, released in January 1977. As early as 1973, the Community Memory Project launched an initiative to provide public access to a common computer system, but newspapers and online service providers became more common after 1978.

In the  1980s, home computers were  developed mostly for home use, with software for personal development, programming and gaming. With detailed visuals and rare colours, as well as text up to 40 characters wide and 25 characters high, they can be used as a computer monitor in conjunction with your home TV. The basic use of personal computers is that the computer allows the exchange of information by communicating with other computers. Internet service providers emerged in the early 1980s to provide public access to the rapidly growing network. In 1991, the World Wide Web was opened to the public. The combination of powerful personal computers with high-definition video and sound, along with the methods provided by the internet and website access methods, have formed the basis of much of today’s life, from bus timetables to Wings Without Borders.

IMPACT OF PCs

Huge changes have occurred in the last 30 years with the development of computers, especially personal computers. This invention was considered one of the most important inventions of the twentieth century. Computers are used in government, law enforcement, banking, commerce, education and business. Science has become important in politics and social sciences, as well as in medicine and law.

At the beginning of the twentieth century, the emergence of the personal computer was, on the  one hand, the development of computers, and on the other hand, the creation of networks, the new language – the Internet. Computers and the Internet, and later the World Wide Web and email, have had a profound impact on people; It has changed the way  the world communicates, shops, does business and lives every day.

Everyone is affected by data management and storage. These developments have their drawbacks. Some are involved in fraud, criminal activities and scams. These activities have created a new computer security and criminal army.

The personal computer has changed the way people do business, keep family information, pay taxes, entertain and write. Even people who are afraid or don’t use computers  or come  with computers every day. When they use an ATM to deposit or withdraw money, they use a special computer. When paying for food or gas with a credit card, computers are involved. The car’s internal systems are also run by computers.

Nowadays, the definition of a personal computer has changed due to different uses, new technologies and new connections to a larger network. Personal computers are computers currently used by a business owner in a workplace, library, or individual home. Most home computers are used by individuals for accounting, gaming, or message processing.

They have become devices that provide entertainment and information. They are inexpensive and anyone can learn to use them. More and more people do business from home with their own computers or have company-provided computers and only go to their offices a few days a week. Thus, computer literacy has become an important skill for business or research and a requirement for many jobs that use computers as part of their daily work, such as bank instructors, salespeople, librarians, and restaurant workers.
