Furthermore, there is another clause which says that the age must not be twice than the other spouse. If so, then the judge’s approval is needed.

Under the law there is a need for a pre-marital screening certificate which is needed by both the parties tying the knots. Dubai Health Authority, Department of Health-Abu Dhabi, Ministry of health and Prevention are the three medical centers from where the marital screening can be done. The medical screening is conducted to ensure that none of the two have any genetically inherited blood disease or as transferable disease. The application for the marriage can be denied if anyone of the party suffers from it.

Moreover, the attendance of the couple is compulsory. For the witnesses that is a need of 2 male Muslim witnesses along with the attendance of the brides’ father.

Any woman who plans to get married in Dubai needs the consent of the parents or guardians. In case of the death of the father, the closest male guardian such as elder brother or anyone else who is needed for the presence at the time of marriage. For a widow or a divorced woman, there is a need for written evidence that should support his current status.
