The first season of Moon Knight, which stars Oscar Issac as Moon Knight, premiered on March 30, 2022, bringing the Marvel supernatural universe to the MCU. With a finale that had viewers clamoring for more episodes, the series was an immediate hit. Moon Knight was sadly intended to be a one-and-done series, but that is no longer the case, and I believe a second season is imminent. Who am I to say that? As for the phrase “series finale,” it was eventually changed to “season finale” in the trailer for the final episode of Moon Knight.

Could this imply that Moon Knight season 2 is on the way? If so, when will it be released? Has filming commenced? You must be wondering all of these things, just as we are. So let’s learn everything we can about Moon Knight season 2 in this article. Additionally, we’ll keep you informed of any new developments relating to Moon Knight, so be sure to bookmark this page and return often to stay current!

Is Moon Knight Season 2 Happening?

Update 18 Oct 2023: According to a recent update from The Hollywood Reporter, Jeremy Slater, the series’ main writer, has formally quit the project, leaving the prospects for a second season of Moon Knight in limbo. But because the season ended on such a huge cliffhanger, we might not see season 2 of this show as soon as we had hoped.

When questioned about Moon Knight Season 2 in an interview with The Playlist, Moon Knight series creator Jeremy Slater responded, “I honestly have no idea.” Additionally, he added, “I haven’t spoken to Marvel. Since Kevin Feige is the person in charge of the big picture, I believe that he will eventually be responsible for making a lot of those choices.

Moon Knight Season 2 may be coming, even though the writer admitted he has no idea whether it will or won’t. This was hinted at by Oscar Issac. Oscar Issac and Director Mohamed Diab hinted at the prospect of a second season in a video posted in September 2022.

Is there a Moon Knight Season 2 release date?

Although the release date for Moon Knight Season 2 has not yet been confirmed, it is most likely to do so shortly.

Moon Knight’s second season has not yet received an official renewal. At first, a miniseries was thought to be what it was. The sequel season has, however, already received two teases before its 2022 debut. Mohammed Diab, the director, and Oscar Isaac first teased it in a TikTok video.

Later, Isaac discussed Season 2 in October 2022 in an interview with Comicbook.com. He stated:

“Some particular conversations have taken place. They were friendly. The details aren’t being revealed since there aren’t any. Although we don’t know for sure, we are discussing about a second season.

There haven’t been any further developments regarding the second season since then. However, the programmed will probably be renewed because it ends on a cliffhanger after introducing Jake Lockley, Marc Spector’s third identity. There are numerous additional unsolved questions, and no other MCU project has confirmed that Moon Knight will find the answers to them. Therefore, their responses must be drawn from a different Moon Knight season.

The ideal time for its release is in 2026, just before Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. In doing so, it could prepare the scene for Kang and Moon Knight’s comic-based conflict in Avengers 5. However, with so many MCU Disney Plus series currently in the works, season 2 may not only be scheduled for 2027 but also 2026. Based on the data we have thus far, we’ve estimated this date.

Moon Knight Season 2: Cast & Characters

Although the release date for Moon Knight Season 2 is unknown, we can draw some assumptions about the cast. Along with the personalities of Mark Spector, Steven Grant, and Jake Lockley, who were formally introduced in the mid-credit’s scene of the final episode, Oscar Issac will certainly return in his role as Moon Knight.

The following season will also have Ethan Hawke reprising his Arthur Harrow role. Jake Lockley shot him, but we only heard the gunshot, so it’s possible that he’s still alive and might make a comeback. Since May Calamawy is now Scarlet Scarab, the avatar of the Hippo goddess Tweret, she is expected to return in the role of Layla El-Faouly as well.

  1. Murray Abraham, the moon god Konshu’s voice, is unsure whether to make a comeback in light of the accusations he is dealing with. On the Mythic Quest sets, he was allegedly accused of sexual misbehaviour. He was later kicked off the cast of the comedy programme.

Moon Knight Season 2 Trailer

There isn’t an official trailer for Moon Knight season 2 yet because there aren’t many details available. However, if we extrapolate based on the MCU’s current chronology, the Season 2 teaser should be released by the end of 2024 or the beginning of 2025.

Moon Knight Season 2 Plot and Villain

Since season one of Moon Knight ends, there is a lot to anticipate from Moon Knight Season 2 because Season 1 finished with a big announcement. At the conclusion of the first season, Jake Lockley, Marc Spector’s third alter persona, was introduced. In the upcoming season, we might witness more of his homicidal impulses. The potential of a second confrontation between Mark and Ammitt arises since the antagonist of the first season, the crocodile Goddess Ammit, was still inside Arthur Harrow and will likely still be when the second season debuts.

Harrow may yet make a comeback, according to the series’ director Mohamed Diab, who also admits that he is unsure of his status. As of right now, this is all we can infer about Moon Knight’s future, but we’ll keep you updated as soon as we learn more!

Who is Moon Knight’s Third Personality?

The audience was treated to a big announcement at the end of Moon Knight season 1, when Jake Lockley, Marc Spector’s third identity, was introduced. The question of who Jake Lockley is now emerges. Jake Lockley is a taxi driver who serves as more of Marc Spector’s informant in the Moon Knight comic book series. Jake has strong ties to all of the criminal organisations and gangs in the underworld.

When acting as Lockley, Moon Knight establishes a vast network of spies and informants that aid him in staying one step ahead of all crime and criminals by helping him to devise strategies and methods to always be one step ahead of them. In addition to being a kind of spy, Lockley has mental traits that make him very violent. Every time he gets into a fight with someone, someone typically dies.

He says “Today is the day you lose” to Harrow in Spanish in the movie’s last scene, where Jake Lockley seems to shoot Harrow. This is apart from what we typically see in comic books because Jake didn’t have a Hispanic heritage there. Oscar Isaac claims that he changed the persona in order to honour his Hispanic heritage.

We will undoubtedly see more of Jake Lockley and Oscar Issac’s interpretation of the character in Moon Knight season 2. Thus, it will be worth the wait to see this show again.

Who Is the Villain in Moon Knight Season 2?

As of right now, we are unable to predict with certainty who the antagonist in Moon Knight season 2 will be, but given the multiversal events now taking place in the MCU, we may anticipate seeing Rama-Tut, a version of Kang the Conquerer who reigned as a pharaoh thousands of years ago, battle Moon Knight. A truly amazing matchup between Moon Knight and Jake Lockley is also something we can anticipate.

Rama-Tut will undoubtedly be Moon Knight’s opponent if Marvel wants Moon Knight to remain in the MCU. However, since there aren’t many information at this time, we’ll have to wait until the trailer and official release date for Moon K Knight season 2 is announced.

Moon Knight season 2 trailer: When can we see a promo?

Even though Khonshu has been asked repeatedly to speed things up, we don’t anticipate seeing any new Moon Knight season 2 footage for some time. That is, if the programme is indeed renewed.

FAQs

  1. Will Moon Knight make a comeback?
  2. Kevin Feige indicated that Moon Knight’s tale will be explored further even if it won’t be done how fans might anticipate, leaving the series in an intriguing place. Sadly, it’s difficult to wait for the probable Season 2, but Kevin Feige left the series in an interesting place.
  3. Moon Knight: An avenging angel?
  4. Informant Jake Lockley is a hard-nosed person. The guy and mercenary behind it all is Marc Spector. Moon Knight, an Avenger, an anti-hero, and occasionally something much more anti-to-a hero, is a challenging character to understand due to a complicated origin.
