Miss India Tripura 2017 has sadly passed away at the age of 28 after a long battle with cancer. Rinky Chakma lost her life due to the illness.
Rinky Chakma, the former Miss India Tripura winner has succumbed to cancer at the young age of 28. She had been battling cancer for the past two years but eventually lost the battle. She was diagnosed first with a malignant Phyllodes Tumor which is commonly known as breast cancer for which she had undergone surgery. The cancer, however, metastasized to her lungs and proceeded to her head which resulted in a brain tumor. According to a Femina report her health deteriorated following this and she was unable to sustain chemo.
Rinky Chakma’s Cancer Battling Journey
The former Miss India Tripura winner was in critical condition, according to news reports, because of which she was admitted to Max Hospital in Saket on February 22. She was admitted to the ICU and was on the ventilator as one of her lungs was almost non-functioning.
Rinky Chakma shared a post last month where she explained her journey with cancer. She explained how she was not comfortable sharing her health issues on social media; however, she explained how her family and she needed financial aid for her treatment now. She wrote that she wanted to let everyone know that she and her family were going through a rough time and the last two years have not been easy on them with all the hospital visits and stays. She also added that she was now accepting donations because all their savings had been exhausted on her treatment for the last two years. She also said letting everyone know what she is going through would make her feel better.
When did Rinky Chakma win the Miss India Tripura Crown?
Rinky Chakma won the title of Miss India Tripura in 2017 and as a Miss India finalist, Rinky Chakma also won the sub-titles of Miss Congeniality and Beauty With a Purpose. In the same year, Manushi Chillar won the Miss World Pageant and the Miss India World pageant as well.
