What Is A Player Walkout In The LOL LCS?
After professional players “overwhelmingly” decided to commit to a walkout, the LCS Summer Split’s start date was officially postponed by two weeks. If Riot Games does not answer concerns raised by the League of Legends Championship Series Player’s Association (LCSPA) concerning the future of the LCS and the amateur North America Challenger’s League (NACL), which develops future talent for the LCS, players would not take part in the competition. If an agreement isn’t reached between the two parties in the next fourteen days, the LCS Summer Split is set to be called off, and consequently, there will be no North American representation from a team in this year’s League of Legends World Championship.
Riot Games announced in May that they were removing the requirement for LCS teams to support an NACL squad in addition to their LCS lineups. As many as 70 coaches, managers, and players could have lost their jobs due to this unprecedented decision to dismantle the NACL; the LCSPA was angry and labeled it as such. LCS Summer 2023: Where Is It Streaming?
