Yuumi is a mystical cat who travels around on a book like a surfboard. Yes, you heard it correctly. League of Legends’ newest support champion introduces an entirely new element to the game. She’s a nifty little kitty with a lot of attitude, and she’ll undoubtedly cause havoc for many Rift teams.
We tested Yuumi on the Public Beta Environment (PBE) before Patch 9.10 was released. We’ll discuss her skills, playstyle, build, and which runes will be most effective for her.
Yuumi’s powers
Passive: Bop’n’Block
Yuumi’s natural passive ability enhances her next basic attack against an opposing champion by restoring mana (based on level) and providing an Ability Power shield (based on level) that lasts until broken. While she is attached to a friendly target, the shield is transferred to her anchor.
Q. Prowling Projectile
Yuumi shoots a missile that inflicts magic damage on the first enemy target struck. If the missile flies far enough, it will do additional damage and slow foes. When she is attached to a teammate, the missile moves from her ally’s position and can be controlled using her mouse.
W: You and me
Passive: When Yuumi is Attached to a teammate, she and her ally receive a percentage of each other’s Attack Damage or Ability Power converted to Adaptive Force.
This implies Yuumi and her ally will receive bonus points for the stat they have the most. If Yuumi is laning with Twitch, for example, he will be assigned AD and Yuumi AP. Players earn 0.6 AD each point of AF, or one AP per AF.

Yuumi’s ultimate ability unleashes waves of magical damage, rooting enemy targets after three hits. When the Final Chapter is active, Yuumi can move, attach to teammates, and heal.
How to play her: 1-18
We believe Yuumi is the greatest support champion. There is no second guessing with her. Everything about her kit screams support, and the bot lane is where she shines.
She has the potential to be a formidable team-oriented champion, but she does have certain flaws.
Yuumi’s E ability is the key feature of her kit. It offers her the rare ability to avoid wounds and lead a team fight without fear of death. Although attachment to her team-mates can often be strong, a competent Yuumi player must learn when and when not to use it.
In an ideal scenario, you’d connect yourself to your teammates whenever possible, but your approach to Yuumi will not work to your benefit. You can’t auto attack when Attached, therefore you’ll lose out on trade entirely. This is especially true during the laning phase. You will offer your opponents an advantage by exposing your AD Carry to a 1v2 scenario, for example. You can still bond to your ally, but use it sparingly.
In the early stages of the game, try to trade as efficiently as the match-up allows you to. If you’re against a particularly strong lane-oriented duo, play more passively. However, if you’re on equal footing or have a long-ranged ADC, you can choose to be more aggressive. You are not a tank, so getting up in your opponent’s face is not a good idea, but you should not be scared to absorb some damage.
You have a heal, after all, and your poke can deal a lot of damage before level six. You’re not the most lethal support, but if you can trade while avoiding dangers by attaching to an ally, you can gain an advantage in the lane.
What items should I create?
Yuumi, You and Me! Her passive ability allows her to not only provide utility to her teammates, but also to buffer their damage. She can be assembled in a variety of ways. The safest approach will probably be the most popular, although a more aggressive AP build is definitely possible.
The most efficient build for Yuumi will begin with Spellthief’s Blade. It’s terrific for poking in the lane and, once improved, will be useful in late-game confrontations. Next Redemption and Athene’s Unholy Grail are ideal for utility and sustainability. They both fit comfortably around your outfit and serve as all-purpose support pieces. You would generally want to grow into boots at this stage, but it is not necessary while you’re.
Which runes should I use?
There are several rune sites that would suit nicely with Yuumi. This is just one of several options. Summoning Aery allows you to deal greater damage with your Q ability, especially during the laning phase. Manaflow Band will provide you with the extra mana you need to sustain. Transcendence helps you to cast more spells. And Scorch boosts your poke damage.
Final note!
In terms of the secondary tree, Resolve is the most reliable option for your kit’s supporting components. Font of Life will work well with the snare on your Q. And Revitalize will accelerate the healing of your E. Overall, this rune page provides Yuumi with a wonderful balance.
If you want to attempt something different, you can choose Resolve as primary and Sorcery as secondary. It will appear similar in theory, but you will rely more on defensive support. There’s nothing wrong with it, but Yuumi excels at poke damage and usefulness.
