Ghost Of Tsushima 2: How the original got set up as a sequel!

The finale of Ghost of Tsushima has established several plot strands that could be explored in the game’s suspected sequel. Although Sucker Punch Productions has yet to formally announce Ghost of Tsushima 2, Jin Sakai’s story is far from ended. A hypothetical Ghost of Tsushima 2 might go several different paths, including continuing the tale of the first game as an adaptation of Japanese history.

Rumors about Ghost of Tsushima 2 have circulated on the internet for a long time, and given the previous game’s economic success, it is quite likely that a sequel will follow.

Ghost of Tsushima 2 could feature the Mongols’ second invasion

Ghost of Tsushima’s premise is based on the true account of the Mongol invasion of Tsushima in 1274, so the sequel could focus on the second raid in 1281. The second invasion could be even larger because the fight involves men from Korea and Southern China, which the Mongols seized. On the other hand, the Japanese have not been idle, preparing greater samurai armies to defend themselves against the invaders. The sequel could potentially return to Iki island from Ghost Of Tsushima’s expansion, as the second invasion begins with an attack on the location before moving on to mainland Japan.

Despite Jin’s best attempts to battle the Mongols, the Shogun considers him as a traitor because of the protagonist’s despicable behavior. Jin is now a ronin, and the Shogun’s troops are likely to pursue him once Shimura fails to murder the protagonist. With Jin effectively exiled, Ghost of Tsushima 2 may focus on his internal conflict, in which the protagonist must determine if he still wants to risk his life to protect those who reject him.

Jin might even travel to mainland Japan to oppose the invading forces. Aside from allowing players to explore more of feudal Japan in Ghost of Tsushima 2, the introduction of the mainland area could introduce the Shogun as a prominent figure who could become Jin’s antagonist.

The Shogun’s viewpoint is obvious in Ghost of Tsushima, and he may become an internal enemy that Jin must face while dealing with the Mongols. Despite the minimal information available about Ghost of Tsushima’s sequel, it is anticipated to focus on the second Mongol invasion of Japan and Jin’s struggles as a rogue samurai.

Ghost of Tsushima has a nice ending: Lord Shimura is saved

Each ending is nearly identical, although the ‘good’ ending begins with Jin confessing his lack of honor but still refusing to murder one of his own. Shimura then threatens that the Ghost will be hunted for the rest of his life, and you walk away proudly with your Ghost mask on once more.

The first difference is your new armor dye: you’ll be wearing the blood-red version of your Ghost Armor, Vow of Vengeance. You also wake up at Tradition’s End, east of Mount Omi. This space is once again filled with your gathered belongings, and your conversation with Yuna changes to reflect your final decision.

Ghost of Tsushima 2: Will there be a sequel?

It remains to be determined which ending will be canon, but given that his new job provides its name to the game itself, we’re betting on the nice ending, in which Jin completely becomes the Ghost. Jin survives nevertheless, and Ghost of Tsushima 2 could show our hero in a much more challenging assignment now that he is on the run from Japan’s Shogun. And, as the positive ending rescues your uncle, Lord Shimura will most likely be by his side.

According to conversations with the Khan, Khotun was sent by the Mongol Empire to attack Tsushima as a brutal stepping stone before a comprehensive takeover of the Japanese mainland.

Ghost of Tsushima’s ending decision explained

Despite spending the majority of Ghost of Tsushima preparing to face Khotun Khan, Jin’s story does not stop there. Instead, the game returns to its central theme: honor, the samurai code, and whether the means of corrupting both (Jin resorting to shadow killing and poisoning his victims) justify the aims.

Despite Lord Shimura’s exile and quest for you following your successful and relatively bloodless rescue of your uncle’s castle, his men join yours in the final attack on the Khan in Port Izumi. Unfortunately, the two men’s disagreements remain unresolved.

Kill Lord Shimura

If you choose the path of the samurai and give Lord Shimura the honorable death he seeks, Jin assures his uncle that he will be remembered, with Shimura redeeming Jin and inviting him to meet him again in the next world. Jin then takes his own life, as the credits roll. Some may claim that this is the ‘bad’ ending in Ghost of Tsushima because it involves murder, but we believe the decision is significantly more complicated.

Final Note!

The first thing you’ll probably notice is that you have a new Ghost Armor dye. The brilliant white Righteous Punishment stands out among your previous all-black outfits, serving as a clear reminder of your final decision.

Once you’ve finished exploring your new digs, Yuna will meet with you to go over your remaining duties to the supporting cast, which may include Lady Masako and Sensei Ishikawa. Before you are released back to your island home, you will talk about your uncle’s death, which you caused.
