The 22-year-old rapper from Los Angeles, whose real name is Jonathan Porter, has had a sharp increase in popularity since the end of 2018, when his unusual rapping style and visage became viral on social media. Many feel that his stuttering, somewhat hilarious cadence doesn’t belong in the present or historical context of hip-hop. However, that’s precisely what draws us in to him.

Let’s now cover all the information you require about Blueface. I’ve spent hours listening to radio interviews and looking through Blueface’s Instagram archive more than any other rapper I’ve ever looked into, so I can declare with confidence that these are the top 10 things you should know about him before he becomes famous.

Ice Cube and Kendrick Lamar have both co-signed him.

Legend-in-the-making Kendrick Lamar and West Coast rap pioneer Ice Cube have previously enlisted Blueface as a cosigner. Cube recently saw a clip of Blueface’s Respect My Crypn on an episode of Genius’ The Cosign. Upon viewing a little segment of the film, he expressed his admiration for his self-assurance.

I’m positive that this guy can rap. He’s not offbeat, Cube continued. He’s not hitting the ones all the time; instead, he’s bouncing off and landing back on. It’s one of those tastes that takes some getting used to, but once you get it, it’s really hot.

Times in December, music writer Jeff Weiss had an interview with Kendrick Lamar. Weiss asked Lamar about his thoughts on Blueface because he knew that the world was (and would continue to be) curious. Though Weiss did take the time to tweet Kung-Fu Kenny’s reaction, K. Dot’s statement was left out of the final feature. He’s dope, baby, after automatically ad-libbing Blueface. I respect that he has an individual style.

It was a dick photo that made him famous.

Put in Her Face is one of my fave Blueface tracks. It sounds disrespectful, and that’s exactly it. Additionally, Blueface utilized a picture of his dick as the cover art when he first released it. In an interview with Refuse Media, he stated, I sho’ the fuck did, and that blew a nigga up.

He said, Someone took a screenshot with this amazing ass angle and a nigga dick that looked hurt. Having the appearance of losing everything. He chose to change the course of events rather than allow the internet to shame him into

. It will be a nice one if I go out with a dick picture. To Put It in Her Face, as it were.

He used to take playing football seriously.

Blueface was a student at Fayetteville State in North Carolina in 2015. The school offered him the finest deal on a football scholarship, so he decided to attend it even though it was on the other side of the nation from his native California. In December, he told Big Boy, If I wasn’t playing football, I wouldn’t have gone to school.

He attended five different high schools in his high school career in an attempt to maximize his prospects of becoming a real great athlete.

According to Blueface, he was set to redshirt his first year due to an injury sustained by the team’s main quarterback, a fifth-year senior. For one game, Blueface was taken off the bench by the coach, and he went on to throw for two touchdowns and no interceptions.

After that, Blueface returned to the bench as the veteran quarterback healed. He didn’t stay long before quitting. I departed even before the report card was released.

He fell into rap by accident

I literally walked into the shit. That’s how Blueface characterizes his rap career’s inception. He claimed in multiple radio appearances that he was hanging out with TeeCee4800, an L.A. rapper. TeeCee left his iPhone dongle in Blueface’s vehicle when he was being driven to one of his gigs.

TeeCee was at a studio when Blueface gave the dongle back to her. But he hopped in the booth before he left. That was the day he gave birth to his now-famous ad-libs Blueface, baby! and Yea, aight. That was the end of it.

He believes he is a genius

Blueface described himself as a genius in three different interviews that I saw while doing research on him. In an interview with 30 Mile Exclusive, he described how he got his start by going to nearby high schools and doing performances on top of his car in front of yelling teenagers. He declared his marketing plan, I don’t like to say it, but I don’t care. I’m a real-life genius.

He discussed his tattoo of a barber pole with Refuse Media. He laughed and added, Man, I’m a genius. I’m quite intelligent, I work very hard.

I was sick of having people ask me what I was thinking about because I had everything on my mind. His barbering background, astrological sign, religious convictions, material goals, and a host of other details are all revealed by his tattoos. The Benjamin Franklin tattoo on his cheek, which he refers to as his signature, is the most noticeable, though.

According to Blueface, that tattoo served as his official rapper seal. In an interview with No Jumper, he stated that this would make it the sole alternative. You can’t give up without showing off your big-ass Benji.

He claims that he writes with the beat

For better or worse, Blueface’s style of rapping has been what has made him popular. Many believe that he is purposefully rapping in an unconventional manner or that he writes his songs to a beat that differs from what is heard in the finished song. He said, Usually, I write to the beat. The music itself really can be made by the beat. I made the music to the beat, regardless of whether you think I’m crazy. Or at least the dreadful beat I could hear.
