The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild concludes with Link and Zelda vowing to restore Hyrule’s majesty, taking it “even beyond” what it originally was, despite her limited ability.

Though The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the kingdom release date has been touted as a direct successor to Breath of the Wild, Nintendo has been very quiet regarding where and how the story picks up. Nintendo even kept the name of Tears of the Kingdom a secret for years, disclosing it only in 2022 due to concerns that it would give away too much.

What is the release date for The Tears of the Kingdom?

What We Know About The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Tears of the Kingdom will be released for Nintendo Switch on May 12. It will cost $69.99, making it the first first-party Nintendo Switch game to be priced this expensive. A $129.99 collector’s edition will also be available that day. It contains a tangible copy of Tears of the Kingdom, an art book, a SteelBook case, an Iconart steel poster, and four pins.

Breath of the Wild was published in 2017 as a launch title for both the Nintendo Switch and the Wii U. Tears of the Kingdom will only be available on the Nintendo Switch.

We created a comprehensive guide on where you can pre-order Tears of the Kingdom, whether you want the base version or the more expensive collector’s edition. Check it out for more information, but here are some links if you just want to pre-order today. There are also various other pre-order bonuses, the majority of which vary by country.

Who will collaborate with TEARS OF THE KINGDOM?

Yes, however we suspect Nintendo hasn’t revealed all of the facts of amiibo Tears of the Kingdom compatibility. We know that scanning particular Zelda amiibo changes the appearance of your glider, but other features may be unveiled closer to the game’s release date.

What is the story of Tears of the Kingdom?

Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Is Missing Something - YouTube

When it comes to Zelda games, Nintendo is not particularly forthcoming regarding the plot. The same holds true for Tears of the Kingdom, which Nintendo touts as a “epic adventure across the land and skies of Hyrule.” Players will be able to “harness the power of Link’s new abilities to fight back against the malevolent forces that threaten the kingdom,” according to Nintendo. Much of the plot is purposefully ambiguous, and trailers disclose little. To the contrary, part of what Nintendo has displayed appears to be misdirection.

Tears of the Kingdom is darker than Breath of the Wild, at least in parts. The game’s trailers depict Link and Zelda in dark dungeons, with malice creeping into the environment, as well as brilliant lightness as Link flies over aerial islands. It appears to be a game of balance, and we’ll see how the joy of exploring, which is so important in Breath of the Wild, interacts with the somber plot.

A clip published in February shows what appears to be Ganon’s corpse, possibly in its Ganondorf form, awakening. Malice expands, forcing Hyrule Castle into the sky and even injuring Link, whose arm appears to be rotting and burned.

Who are the new and returning characters?

Is 'Tears of the Kingdom' a Prequel? Answered

On April 13, Nintendo released a new teaser — the final one before Tears of the Kingdom’s May 12 release date which unveiled a slew of new characters. There are some characters you’ll recognize, like Lady Riju, Prince Sidon, Ganondorf, and (maybe) Tulin.

But the new personalities are interesting. The trailer revealed an elf-like princess who resembles Zelda and wears the same jewelry. Then there’s a strange robed person – perhaps a Zonai king? And the possible introduction of a new race of beings.

Is the gameplay the same?

Nintendo hasn’t revealed any longer combat or puzzle gameplay, but we have seen new and expanded methods to explore Hyrule. Link has a number of new weapons in the trailers, including axes, swords, shields, and arrows, which he may use to combat both familiar and new adversaries.

In the Tears of the Kingdom trailers, Link has a powerful, glowing green arm, which appears to be scorched in the February trailer. Nintendo hasn’t showed exactly what his arm does or how it works, but it does look to have powers that will help players solve puzzles, influence the environment (and time itself), and employ other unique skills, similar to Breath

Polygon reviews editor Mike Mahardy got hands-on with Tears of the Kingdom in late March and experimented with the game’s bounds; the possibilities for exploiting and challenging its systems appear limitless. There wasn’t anything that Tears of the Kingdom prevented Mahardy from accomplishing during the hour-long gaming session.

The disadvantage, it appears, is that there are numerous systems and controls to learn, some of which take time to adjust to. All of Link’s new skills were available during the preview event, which may not be the case at the start of the game; Link will most likely earn each ability one at a time, as is customary in such games.

What are Link’s new abilities?

Nintendo’s March gaming demo gave a detailed look at Link’s new skills, which might change everything. These skills have an impact on both fighting and traversal: recall, fuse, ultrahand, and ascend.

Recall rewinds object movement, which is useful for traveling to Hyrule’s sky islands; weapon fusing allows you to create new weapons from objects, such as fusing a stick and a rock to make a hammer; Ultrahand, which glues objects together, can be used to create vehicles; and Ascend is a tool that allows Link to travel through ceilings.

Final note!

The game will be 16 GB in size. While there have been numerous Switch titles with much larger install sizes, this is one of Nintendo’s largest releases for the Switch. In other words, if you need more storage, get a microSD card.
