Can digital content revive micropayments?

It is the revival of the concept of micropayments, first developed in 1994 by the Dutch company Digicash to solve the issue of small online payments. The software was a geeky product that boasted a mathematical proof based on a powerful formula. Digicash was a system that had a very elegant design. The system offered many benefits including anonymity, security, and the ability to pay for small amounts or large sums. Digicash used its newly-minted currency, Cyberbucks, to make it possible. Digicash was able to disrupt the financial system of the world by substituting large, centrally issued currencies with private untraceable ones. Unfortunately, Digicash was only popular with them. Cyberbucks was never popular and ultimately the company went bankrupt, even though it had a main business of smart cards for banks and governments.

Banks were not keen on the idea of competition, while merchants did not like the anonymous aspect. As a result, Visa and MasterCard launched their products and services on the Web. Rest is history. There is an increasing interest in the micropayments, which aims to make online small transactions more affordable for retailers. This is because fees charged by credit card and bank companies can eat up the entire profit of a transaction if it is small. In order to get around the problem, new schemes need only batch microtransactions, and then complete a transaction with a credit-card for a fixed amount, such as US$20. Merchants may only receive payment for 1 out of 100 transactions. 소액결제 현금화  services will decide when and how to pay merchants. The micropayment service will decide when to pay a merchant and how much. The money will arrive even if you are owing the customer, or even in the red. Companies such as Yaga, FirstGate and others have explored similar features for their payment solutions but take a slightly different approach. FirstGate uses an ASP-model where content providers connect to FirstGate and don’t have to worry about the payment services. Yaga integrates their technology into a content providers system, and can operate the service on behalf of the content provider if needed.
