A very disappointing match with a terrible result because of a questionable performance with and without the ball.

Barcelona will finish its weekend in third place in the La Liga table, all thanks to its disappointing performance and a very wild 3-3 draw against Granada at the Montjuic Olympic Stadium this Sunday night. It will also be a total of ten points behind the leader at the end of the weekend. The team played very poorly throughout the entire night and also made a lot of mistakes with and without the ball which cost them the game. Their poor performance allowed the second-worst team in the league to earn a deserved point in Catalonia and very effectively kill the hopes of Barcelona.

The first half of the game

Granada got an entire week to prepare for the match and was ready for their moment. The visitors came up with an excellent plan in and out of possession which made the life of Barcelona hell for the entirety of forty-five minutes they played. The team executed its plan well and made the game a huge pressuring and quick one with incisive passing sequences which created dangerous attacks. Barcelona had more of the ball but they were unable to find a way to break through he Granada press. With multiple long passes wanted and several mistakes in the midfield the backline of the team was put under pressure. The double pivot of Andreas Christensen and Frenkie de Jong barely made it to any of the balls and the progression of the ball became a huge issue throughout the period. Such mistakes cost the team their game and made them end up with disappointing results.

The second half of the game

Granada started the second half of the game by dropping deep in the low block and was ready to frustrate Barcelona in the final third with its well-organized and thought-out defense structure. The Catalans had more of the ball in the visitors half but they struggled to find space for it. There was never really a chance in the early period. Then as the mark hit there came a five-minute stretch of madness where Granada took the lead. Pau Cubarsi could not properly clear a simple cross inside the box which made the ball go to Myrto Uzuni who gave Pellistri the easiest tap-ins of all time at the far post to get the team to the front. Barcelona responded immediately after a good pass from Cancelo found Lewandowski for an equalizer but Granade did not stop and took the lead again in just 90 seconds with a cross by Faitout Maouassa found Ignasi Miquel and the captain went home off the post.

Conclusion

The team of Barcelona took the game for granted and did not work hard to win. Granada has now extended their unbeaten streak against Barcelona in La Liga which made it a bad night for Barcelona.
