Famously known as Sid Applebaum, Sidney was an American businessman who was also the co-founder of Rainbow Foods, Big Top Liquors, Sid’s Discount Liquors, and Applebaum’s Food Market. Sid was the son of Oscar and Bertha Applebaum, who came from Russia after migration.
Born on February 28, 1924, in St. Paul, Sidney Applebaum had eight siblings and was the youngest son to his parents. The household of 11 often lived in a three-bedroom apartment in the beginning. His father established a grocery shop on 7th Street in downtown St. Paul and St. Peter. Moreover, he could do so since he withdrew $65 from his eldest child on his own.
