Cellular companies are introducing new facilities to their customers every coming day. Prepaid subscription and postpaid subscription is also one of that kind of service that is provided for the customers to meet their needs.
At the moment a user can have his/her number either with the postpaid subscription or with a prepaid subscription. In order to change the subscription or converting from prepaid to postpaid, or from postpaid to prepaid, the subscribers need to visit the franchise or customer care center of the relevant cellular network.
This is normally a long process and the subscriber needs to clear pending bills as well in order to convert from postpaid to prepaid. Or he has to wait for 3 months to convert his number into prepaid from the date he/she converted to postpaid or bought a new postpaid sim.
Prepaid and Postpaid
But now, it seems that things will be pretty easy for the subscribers. Department of Telecom (DoT) of India got a proposal from the Cellular Operators’ Association of India (COAI). In this proposal, it is suggested that mobile subscribers should be able to switch from prepaid to postpaid, or from postpaid to prepaid by using a one-time password (OTP).
This one-time password verification method is in use in different industries and it is only possible due to the advancement in cellular networks. Years ago, people don’t even know how to check SIM number, if they forget their number. For that, they have to visit the nearest franchise of their respective operator.
But now things are easy for them and it is very easy to check the mobile number by just dialing a simple code. This code is different for different networks. The advancement in technology and the will of cellular networks to provide more facilities to their customers make it happen.
So, in the same way, not they are trying to provide another great facility to their customers so that they can switch between postpaid and prepaid subscriptions without requiring them to visit the call center or franchise.
The final decision on this proposal yet to be made. But people are expecting that this proposal will be accepted by the concerned departments. It will be a new revolution in the cellular industry in India. Based on this decision, it is expected that Pakistan and Bangladesh will also follow this trend and they will also provide this facility to their people.
