Oppo did all the right things in 2020. The Find X2 series holds its own against Samsung and Google’s best, and Oppo is making significant progress in cleaning up its software. The Color OS 11 release, based on Android 11, includes dozens of new clever design changes that make the UI more appealing to a global audience. Know about the Full form of NNFTS.

Because Huawei is mainly absent from Western markets due to the US ban, Chinese manufacturers such as Oppo and Xiaomi are using the Opportunity to pitch their devices as viable alternatives to Huawei and Honor. We’ve already seen this with the Find X2 series in the high-end market, and Oppo hopes to repeat the success with the Reno 4 in the mid-range market.

Design

The Oppo Reno4 features a whole new “Reno Glow” design. It has a plastic matte finish on the rear with glittering accents and a metal frame on the sides.

On the front, there’s a pill-shaped dual punch-hole on the upper left side of the screen that houses the phone’s front shooter, as well as an AI-enhanced Smart Sensor for the SmartAir Control, which we’ll go over in more detail later. On the top bezel, there’s also a speaker grill.

The Reno4 sports a vivid AMOLED screen with slim bezels and a somewhat broader chin, similar to other phones today. The power button is located on the right side.

The volume rocker and a dual SIM card tray with a dedicated microSD card slot expandable to 256GB are located on the left side. The noise-cancelling microphone is located on the top.

The loudspeaker, USB Type-C connector, primary microphone, and 3.5mm audio port are all located on the bottom of the device, which is still good news for people who prefer wired headphones.

We find the camera module on the back, which is similar to the iPhone 11’s but in vertical form. So far, we appreciate what Oppo has done with the Reno4 in terms of design. It feels practical, lightweight, and has an excellent grip in the hands. It won’t be a problem to use it without a jelly case because it isn’t a fingerprint magnet.

Display & Multimedia

The Reno4 has a 6.4-inch Full HD+ AMOLED display with a pixel density of 409ppi and a resolution of 2400 x 1080px. The screen looks excellent, but it isn’t the greatest we’ve seen in terms of brightness and image clarity. Aside from that, watching videos on the smartphone is an immersive experience.

The single down-firing loudspeaker is loud enough to fill a room in terms of music quality; unfortunately, you only have one speaker. So, if your finger keeps blocking the Opposite corner, we propose that you plug in your earphones. The Dolby Atmos feature is especially appreciated because it ensures that the sound from the single speaker is clean and balanced.

Camera

A 48MP Sony IMX 586 primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2MP macro, and a 2MP for mono or portrait images make up the Reno4’s quad-camera configuration. Meanwhile, a 32MP Sony IMX616 selfie camera is included.

The AI Color Portrait is one of the Reno4’s most fascinating camera capabilities. It keeps the subject’s natural colour while converting the background to black and white in real-time.

The pictures produced are sharp and beautiful when lit properly. The colour reproduction is excellent and precise. Even when zoomed in, the details are intact. Background separation is good in portrait mode. It blurs out nicely, yet the subject’s features are still visible and true to its colours. Low-light photos, on the other hand, are perfectly acceptable. The details aren’t as sharp as they could be, but they’re there.

The Night Flare feature is also included with the Reno4. Although the bokeh effect is accentuated, if you have good light, it still produces a stunning image with plenty of subject details.

In terms of video, you can shoot in 4K at 60 or 30 frames per second. If you want to make vlogs or cinematic shorts, the quality is adequate. If you want a more stable video, it also has Ultra Steady Mode.

Operating System and Apps

In terms of software, it comes pre-installed with Android 10 and Color OS 7.2, which is one of the cleanest skins currently available. However, although other major smartphone makers have put tremendous effort slimming down on this area, some may not be able to endure the increasing amount of bloatware.

If you’ve ever used an intelligent gesture-based navigation system, Oppo has included a Smart AirControl function in the Reno4, which allows you to scroll up and down on pages within apps such as Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok.

Performance

The Reno4 has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G processor with an Adreno 618 GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 128GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 256GB with a microSD card.

When it comes to biometrics and security, you can use facial recognition and an in-display fingerprint scanner to unlock the phone. In comparison to other devices, both methods function very swiftly.

Connectivity & Battery

Standard wireless communication options include 4G LTE, WiFi 802.11 n, wireless hotspot, Bluetooth 5.0, and GPS on the Reno4.

With Oppo’s 30W VOOC 4.0 Flash Charge, the device’s battery capacity is increased to 4,015mAh. So if you’re not a heavy user, the Reno4 should last at least a day. Thankfully, charging this takes less than an hour with the supplied 30W VOOC 4.0 charger.

Conclusion

When compared to the Oppo Reno3, the Reno4 has many new features. It has improved performance, faster charging, a more appealing design, and powerful cameras. This will appeal to first-time Reno buyers, but those who have recently purchased the Reno3 may be disappointed by the rapid succession.

The Oppo Reno4’s price in Tunisia starts from 999 DT to 1199 DT, and at that price point, you’ll get a powerful smartphone that can handle your day-to-day tasks with ease, as well as extended battery life. Moreover, if you’re into photography, this device has some great camera functions that you’ll appreciate.
