Well, the wait is soon to be over, Travelers! Genshin Impact 6.0 promises to be among the most rollicking updates we have seen in a long time, with a new region, new characters, new gameplay mechanics…and, need we even mention it? …the anniversary promise. So whether you were a day one player or perhaps wanting to get hype this is everything you need to know all in one place.
When Will Genshin Impact 6.0 Release?
Put it on your calendars: this will be an event on September 10, 2025. That is where Genshin Impact 6.0 will launch globally. Owing to time differentials and upkeep ever so often a few areas like North America may be receiving it later on September 9 whereas others will be rearing up the morning of the 10 th on brand-new adventures.
Before that, we’ll have the official version 6.0 livestream on August 29, 2025, where HoYoverse will show off banners, new areas, and anniversary rewards. If you’ve been following past livestreams, you know this is when we also get those sweet redemption codes for free Primogems.
The Beta Phase
The version 6.0 was officially closed beta-tested late in mid-July of the year 2025. A privileged team of participants was able to have an early access to see the new region of the game, discover new coming characters and play unreleased weapons. Most of the leaks and gameplay previews you’ve seen floating around came from this beta period.
The Star of the Show: Nod-Krai
The headline feature of Genshin Impact 6.0 is the new region: Nod-Krai. Located in the southernmost part of Snezhnaya, Nod-Krai kicks off a new story arc called Song of the Welkin Moon.
Expect to visit striking new locations like:
-
Nasha Town – a bustling settlement with a touch of winter magic.
-
Lighthouse Cemetery – eerie and mysterious, perfect for lore hunters.
-
Fatui Stronghold – where some of the toughest enemies await.
-
Paha and Lempo Isles – smaller islands filled with puzzles, chests, and environmental storytelling.
The region isn’t just about pretty views, though. New enemies like the Radiant Moonfly, Radiant Antelope, and Aeonblight Drake will test your combat skills. And yes—there will be new Fatui elite units to keep things spicy.
New Playable Characters
Version 6.0 introduces three new faces to the roster, and they’re all tied to the story unfolding in Nod-Krai.
-
Lauma – A 5-star Dendro catalyst user and member of the Frostmoon Scions. She harnesses unique “Lunar” elemental reactions, making her a powerful choice for teams built around Elemental Mastery.
-
Aino – A cheerful 4-star Hydro character and inventor of a device called Ineffa. She wields a Hydro Vision and brings creative utility to battles.
-
Flins – A stoic 5-star Electro polearm wielder, known as the Lightkeeper of Nod-Krai. His kit is said to mix high-damage bursts with supportive buffs for the team.
Banner Order
-
Phase 1: Lauma (5-star) and Aino (4-star) will share the spotlight.
-
Phase 2: This phase sets stage 5-star Flins, and yet another we have not known of 4-star comes by his side.
If you’re saving Primogems, you might want to start planning pulls now—both Lauma and Flins look like strong contenders for your party.
Weapons and Artifacts
No Genshin update would be complete without shiny new gear, and 6.0 delivers.
New Weapons
-
Lauma’s Signature Catalyst – designed to maximize her Lunar reactions.
-
Flins’ Signature Polearm – built to boost both personal damage and team support.
-
Forgeable Weapons – crafted in Nod-Krai for all weapon types, great for free-to-play players.
-
Event Weapons – including a special catalyst and the mysterious “City Sword.”
New Artifact Sets
Two new artifact sets will shake up the meta:
-
Night of the Sky’s Unveiling – boosts Elemental Mastery and damage from Lunar reactions.
-
Silken Moon’s Serenade – perfect for supports, with bonuses to EM, reaction damage, and energy regeneration.
Gameplay Changes and New Mechanics
Alongside the usual QoL improvements, Genshin Impact 6.0 will introduce Lunar reactions, a new combat mechanic linked to the Nod-Krai storyline and its characters. These reactions will work differently than the standard Pyro, Hydro, Electro, Cryo, Dendro, Geo, and Anemo combos—so theorycrafters are already preparing to dive in.
The update will also bring:
-
New environmental puzzles tied to the moonlight mechanic.
-
Adjustments to certain elemental reactions to keep combat fresh.
-
More dynamic weather systems in Nod-Krai, affecting exploration and combat.
The Roadmap After 6.0
Version 6.0 is just the beginning of the Nod-Krai saga. According to the current roadmap, the story arc will span multiple updates—likely all the way to version 6.7. With future patches, additional characters could be added, with Durin being introduced in 6.1, Nefer in 6.2 and Columbina in 6.3.
Holding this pacing, that means a drip-feed of lore, boss fights, and the introduction of new playable characters which is going to last well into 2021.
